Codebook

The codebook provides definitions and descriptions of every variable in the NBP Dataset, including response categories and how missing, “unknown,” or “not applicable” values are handled. It also offers a brief overview of the dataset’s purpose and scope and specifies the units of analysis and data structure (including key identifiers and how records are organized and linked). In addition, the codebook justifies group selection, discusses the underlying concepts and operationalization strategies, and details the sources and documentation standards used for coding. Finally, it explains the coding workflow and quality-assurance procedures alongside subsequent standardization measures, data-processing steps and consistency checks used to validate and harmonize the dataset.
